1. Accepting these terms
FilmLink (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) is a free movie-puzzle game available at www.filmlink.io. By visiting the site or playing any mode — the daily puzzle, the archive, practice runs, multiplayer races, custom matches, ranked queues, or leagues — you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
FilmLink is a puzzle game about connecting films through the people who made them. Scores, streaks, leaderboards, badges, and ratings exist for fun and bragging rights only: they have no monetary value, are not prizes or awards, and cannot be sold, traded, or redeemed. We may adjust, rebalance, or reset any score, streak, rating, or leaderboard at any time — for example to correct bugs, remove unfair results, or change how a mode works.
3. Accounts and usernames
You can play as a guest with a display name, or register an account to reserve your name and keep your record across devices. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details private. You must provide accurate information when registering and may not impersonate another person, brand, or FilmLink itself.
Names are visible to other players. We may refuse, reclaim, or rename any username that is offensive, misleading, infringing, inactive, or reserved by a registered account.
4. Fair play
The game only works if everyone plays it. You agree not to: use bots, scripts, or other automation to play or submit scores; exploit bugs to gain an advantage; interfere with timing or submission mechanisms; scrape or bulk-harvest the Service; probe, overload, or disrupt our infrastructure; or share answers in a way intended to corrupt the daily leaderboard. We may remove scores, void results, suspend accounts, or ban devices we reasonably believe broke these rules — with or without notice.
5. Your content
Things you contribute to the Service — usernames, avatars, league names, poll votes, feedback, and similar — must not be unlawful, offensive, infringing, or deceptive. By submitting them you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and display that content as part of operating the Service (for example, showing your name and avatar on a leaderboard). We may remove any content at our discretion. Feedback you send us may be used to improve the Service without obligation or compensation.
6. Film data and intellectual property
Film titles, posters, credits, and related metadata are supplied by third parties — this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. All film artwork, titles, and trademarks belong to their respective rights holders; FilmLink is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any film studio, distributor, or rights holder.
Everything else on the Service — the design, artwork, name, code, puzzles, and copy — belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from it except as allowed by law (sharing your own results is, of course, encouraged).
7. Availability and changes
FilmLink is a free service and we make no promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features, puzzles, or entire game modes, and may suspend or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time without liability to you.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy of film data, and non-infringement. Puzzle difficulty, link validity, and timing depend in part on third-party data that can change without notice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost streaks, lost scores, or lost profits, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us to use the Service in the twelve months before the claim — which, for this free game, is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service.
11. Termination
You can stop using FilmLink at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access (including guest access by device) if you breach these terms, abuse the Service, or where we reasonably need to protect the Service or other players. Sections 5–10 survive termination.
12. Privacy
We collect only what the game needs to run: a display name, an optional account email, gameplay results, and device identifiers used to prevent duplicate daily submissions. Gameplay preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage. We do not sell your personal data. The full detail — including the services we rely on and how to request deletion — lives in our Privacy Policy.
13. Age
FilmLink is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age required to consent to online services where you live, you may only use FilmLink with a parent or guardian’s permission.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version, and material changes may also be announced on the site. Continuing to play after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service’s operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong to the courts of that jurisdiction — except where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be waived.
